Help! What do I do if my property has been damaged?
Contact your insurance provider as soon as possible.
Give them a detailed description of any visible damage.
Based on your information, they will determine if any emergency works are required to make the area safe.
Your insurance provider will guide you on their procedures from here.
How long will it be until repair work commences on my property?
Once a claim is approved there may be an excess payable or documentation to complete prior to getting any work underway.
Once this is in order South West Insurance Builders will be in touch with you to discuss a schedule and arrange a convenient time for commencement of work.
How do I pay my excess?
At the time of lodging your claim, your insurer will advise you if an excess is payable on your claim.
Often, South West Insurance Builders are instructed to collect your excess from you on behalf of the insurer. If this is the case we will issue you with an invoice that is required to be paid prior to any works commencing.
What happens if additional damage is found that wasn’t included in the initial assessment?
Bring it to our attention so we can assess it and report to your insurer.
If it is covered under your insurance policy and falls under the same claim event we can add it to our scope of work once authorised by your insurer.
Is maintenance covered?
Any maintenance work due to general wear and tear should be carried out by the insured prior to any claim related repairs commencing. These will generally not be covered under your policy.
Our assessor will explain to you at the time of inspection what repairs are required to be done.
How long will the work take?
South West Insurance Builders will always ensure the fastest possible turnaround whilst maintaining a high level of workmanship.
There are many factors that can influence the timeframe of works including the extent of the damage, the weather, access to the property and the availability of materials.
